The Technic of laying the Fortune Telling Cards

Cards

Here you can practice!

The cards don't lie (Interview with Miranda)

SpiritProject went to see 'Miranda' who has been telling other people's fortune from the cards for 20 years. She agreed to tell us about her work.

SpiritProject: Miranda, according to your advertisement, you are able to tell other people's fortune and to offer counsel for problems within the couple and the like. Who are the people who come to see you?

Miranda: Mostly women, as you may have guessed, of all levels of education and of different age. I'm sometimes surprised myself when I see that a graduate feels as excited as a so-called "ordinary" woman. But in fact, that's rather natural, since we all need help or advice when it comes to sentimental problems, a PhD doesn't fend such things off.

SpiritProject: Yes, that seems obvious. You've been telling other people's fortune from the cards for twenty years. Do you remember when you realized that you are favored with this special gift?

Miranda: I realized that very early, when I watched my grandmother reading the cards for other women. She sometimes allowed me to stay when I promised to be quiet as a mouse and not to disturb. My grandmother was stupefied when I was able to tell something she hadn't seen herself. My parents didn't approve of my getting into fortune-telling, and so I lost interest in it when I grew up. But I couldn't help knowing things about my friends that I couldn't possibly know. When they were telling me lies, for instance. They rather felt uneasy or bewildered about that.

SpiritProject: I understand that. And then, one day, you got into fortune-telling again?

Miranda: Yes, when my husband of that time fell ill, I remembered that my grandmother was able to read in the cards if a person would get back on his or her feet again. I thus made use of my gift, and I saw two things: that my husband would recover and that he had a girl-friend. I'll never forget how pale he looked when I told him what I knew. He accused me of being a witch and decided that he couldn't live by my side anymore. That rather suited me fine, since I felt the same, above all because of his tendency to tell lies. When I talked to my friends about this, one thing led to another. They consulted me more and more often, and the cards always proved right. I continued fortune-telling as a registered commercial activity and business run like clockwork. I've seen hundreds of clients since then, and some of them are regular customers now.

SpiritProject: And how do you read from the cards what the future holds? You use normal skat cards, don't you?

Miranda: Yes, that's right, but the cards actually only help me to concentrate. Their disposition is certainly relevant and meaningful, but I kind of feel the essential part deep down inside. It is as if somebody whispered me how I have to interpret the cards. It is very difficult to explain these things, I definitely don't hear spooky voices.

Miranda laughs out blithely. She's actually a very "normal" and conventional person. There's no sign of obscurantism at all in her bright, cosy living room, and there's definitely no black cat perched on her shoulder.

SpiritProject: The cards all have their respective meaning, but that's of secondary importance, am I right?

Miranda: No, not exactly, it's more complicated than that. The cards do have a meaning, but I feel quite a lot of additional information that contributes to my predictions. I don't know how other seers or seeresses work. I've tried once to work without cards, but I wasn't satisfied by the results. I think everybody has his or her personal technique. Would you like to take a card? Then I could show you how I work.

SpiritProject: Should I shuffle them before?

Miranda: Yes, please. Afterwards, you just take a card. Or, if you prefer, we can do a real session and I can read your fortune from the cards.

SpiritProject: No, Thanks, I'd rather prefer a little demonstration.

Miranda: You really don't have to feel afraid. You will always know how to handle things. I will never say that something is going to take place irrevocably, least of all bad things.

SpiritProject: But you are able to see such things?

Miranda: Sometimes, yes. But I keep such information to myself, telling the customer hat he or she should take particular care of him- or herself or to consult a doctor.

SpiritProject: It it were me, I'd immediately ask you to tell me exactly what you see.

Miranda: Most people only insist when they detected a piece of good or positive news, such as a happy love affair, or a prize, things like that. It's as if they were equipped with a radar that filters good and bad news. They sort of get hard of hearing when it comes to sad or negative things I allude to.

SpiritProject: Fine. Let's go, here I am, I take my card.

I put my card onto the table, it's eight of diamonds.

Miranda: Very good. This card means success, but it doesn't say in which field. It can be anything that is difficult for you now, and whatever it is, it will work out fine. If I continued, I could see from the disposition of the other cards what...

She gets ready to spread out the cards, but I'd rather like to stop here. Success suits me fine, and as far as the rest is concerned, I'd rather stick to the old rule 'wait and see'. Miranda congratulates me for my decision and tells me that only few people resist the temptation of asking for details once the've begun the session. Since I don't want to put at risk Miranda's high opinion, I ask a final question. I've guessed right. Miranda doesn't charge a fixed price, but asks for a contribution.

Conclusion
What Miranda told me about fortune-telling from cards corresponds to what other seers and seeresses say about their experiences. All of them use some sort of instrument that helps them to improve their perceptive capacities. They thus are able to 'tap' special channels, as do other fortune-tellers through their crystal ball. The latter don't see detailed pictures, but use the crystal ball as a concentration aid.
We can't say once for all how good or 'truthful' fortune-tellers are, that's up to you and should result from your personal experience. We would advise you not to let them worm information out of you, since any reasonably sensitive person would then be able to pretend to 'see' things. Try to be relaxed and to act cool when you go and see a fortune-teller, even if you've got a very special reason to consult him or her. If you've got the impression that what you're told is much too general and and vague, don't hesitate to ask specific questions. And most important, don't forget that nothing is irrevocable, since you can always take the initiative as far as your life is concerned. If you feel that you are forced to take a direction you don't want to follow or feel threatened by possible punishments, you may have fallen into the hands of somebody who wants to establish a relationship of dependence. Unfortunately, a person that is unsure of him- or herself and lack self-confidence can fall for such quacks. You should thus think twice about what you're told and only take into consideration what corresponds to your overall way of life. You alone have the power over your life, nobody can decide what's good for you and what is not at your place. Just trust your inner voice.
