Amulets that are supposed to bring or keep luck and talismans that protect the bearer are as old as humanity. In former times their meaning must have been even more important, as people must have felt much more exposed to the curse of nature or of the gods as a result of missing education. In prehistoric times amulets and talismans have been found as burial objects, put there to accompany the dead beyond the grave. Nowadays many people smile condescendingly at such a belief. And yet - you never know... They speak of a mascot when they fix a pair of baby shoes at their rear-view mirror, or when they keep their first tooth. A hare's paw, the christoperus, the star sign on a pendant, a tattoo or the movie ticket of your first rendezvous... everything can serve as an amulet or talisman, if the bearer really believes in it.
